The trailer-mounted cameras with the obnoxious blue flashing light on top are manufactured by Utah-based company LiveView Technologies (LVT). The cameras are mobile and receive power from a solar panel system attached to a battery pack. They are equipped with three adjustable cameras that sit atop a 22-foot pole and cover an area equivalent to eight football fields. All footage is fed through LVT’s proprietary AI software, which automatically marks certain people as “suspicious” and sends alerts directly to the phone of the owner. LVT has a partnership with Axon Fusus, which centralizes the live footage from cameras into an AI powered database that police can access and search. The towers also have ALPR and thermal imaging capabilities, and a loudspeaker that can be set to play curated AI messages when someone stands in an area too long or is dressed suspiciously.

LVT camera towers are can be found throughout the city in parking lots, outside convenience stores, and in construction sites. The incessant flashing blue light that sits on top is visible for miles. LVT has contracts with large companies such as Kroger (Fred Meyer), Home Depot, 7-11, and Walmart. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has an active contract with LVT. Camera towers have been used to spy on protesters, and LVT advertises them to police for this exact use. LVT has an active contract with ICE for the leasing of 26 mobile camera towers, as well as other government agencies.
