For our 6th issue, “Solidarity Across Borders,” we are looking for pieces that address international solidarity from a local lens. From struggles at the U.S. border to struggles in Palestine, the place we know as “Portland” is not in a vacuum. Local places are shaped through global connections, just as we can’t ignore the effects that local action, or lack thereof, has abroad.
We welcome reports of resistance to U.S. backed violence and imperialism, stories of immigration, diaspora, and cross-border politics, and reflections on Portland’s past and present as both an oppressive colonial entity and a site of resistance to injustice around the world. We welcome short written pieces (250-750 words), calls to action, as well as visual artwork. Compensation is generally $50-$100 per piece.
We also welcome guest editors, especially individuals and groups actively involved in international solidarity work, and will compensate for all editorial and design contributions.
